Attaran’s thread argued that provincial officials ignored a mountain of advice and chose to keep the economy open.
He said Alberta is the richest province in the confederation, and should pay for any medical response.
“It is unjust for poor Atlantic Canada, a COVID success, to subsidize rich Alberta’s cocky failure,” he wrote.
His take on the situation drew immediate response from other professors such as Edmonton economist Andrew Leach, but also regular citizens from across Canada.
